The first serving document relating to Bishop's Cottage is a lease between Sir Hugh Cholmley and Gawyen White dated the 18th of February 1639, for an annual rent of 5d old pennies (two and a half pence in today's money). This delightful period cottage is situated in Black Horse Yard in the old cobbled part of Church Street within easy reach of all amenities, shops, antiques, art galleries, restaurants, beaches and of course Whitby Abbey. Parking is available in the Council car park approximately 200 metres from the cottage in Church Street.
The cottage consists of ground floor with kitchen and living room with Sky TV. First floor bathroom, single bedroom and double bedroom. The cottage operates a no smoking policy. Electric gas, water, bed linen, towels etc are all included. Iron and ironing board are available. Please feel free to occupy the cottage anytime after 1pm on your arrival day.
